HOW APOS® WORKS

Great question! Over 20 years of advanced science and biomechanical engineering have shown us how to redirect the pressure of each step away from painful areas. Right now, the way you’re walking might be pushing pressure into those areas, making the pain cycle worse. We can accurately measure even the smallest misalignment in your gait (the way you walk) and customize your treatment to improve it.

But Apos® doesn’t stop at just relieving pain. As the tension eases, our medical device also works to retrain your muscles, guiding your body to a healthier, more natural way of moving. Over time, this new movement pattern takes hold, giving you lasting relief—even when you’re not wearing the device. It’s like teaching your body to move freely again, one step at a time. About an hour. When you begin the treatment you start out wearing the shoes for only about 20 minutes a day. Your designated Apos® clinician will guide you with a personalized treatment plan.

Yes, studies conducted in the US and UK all show that Apos® patients are avoiding surgery. A study released in 2023 on knee osteoarthrits patients showed that 89% of patients who were candidates for knee replacement surgery were able to avoid surgery for up to six years. And a study released in 2024 on hip osteoarthritis patients showed that 80% were able to avoid surgery for up to five years. More studies are also being conducted on surgery avoidance for other conditions.

Yes! An Apos® product specialist can come to your home. The visit takes between a half an hour to an hour. And once you have the Apos® medical footwear, you just put them on for around an hour a day while going about your regular activities at home for treatment.

Nope. You only need to be on your feet for a fraction of the time. It’s important to give the muscles in your back, hips, knees, and ankles time to rest. Your Apos® Physical Therapist will provide you with personalized guidance.

Many feel relief right away as the footwear helps realign their joints. For others, it may take 3-6 months. Long-term relief happens because, over time, your muscles learn to stabilize your joints better, even when you’re not wearing the footwear.
