Christine’s Story
“Hi, my name is Christine Harper. I live in Northern Ireland, and I’m now nearly 70 years old. Six years ago, I had very, very badly damaged knees, and I was told that my only solution was to have a knee replacement [surgery].
“Basically, I don’t do surgery, so I was looking for every alternative. I actually had surgery booked, and then I came across the advertisement for Apos. It sounded sensible, and when I spoke to my physical therapist, she said, “Yep, sounds good.”
“I started the process. I could hardly walk and was using a walking stick, which also gave me terrible problems with my shoulder. I flew across for treatment but had to take a taxi because I just couldn’t walk any distance. I was in constant pain—in bed at night, standing, sitting—I couldn’t do anything.
“They started the process, and I put on the boots [Apos® foot-worn device] after walking across the pad. I remember thinking, “No, come on.” But literally, as I put on the boots, my knee didn’t hurt as much. I went away and wore the boots exactly as I was told—10 minutes a day. It was torture because I was ready to wear them for 12 hours!
“Within a month, my pain was very much reduced. By three months, I knew I was no longer in pain. I went on holiday, spent time in the pool, and felt my knees getting stronger.
“Now, six years later, I don’t wear the boots that often because I don’t need to. If I feel a twinge, I wear them for about half an hour a day for a couple of days, and I’m back to having no problems.
“As far as I’m concerned, they are the best thing since sliced bread. They’ve saved me from a life of pain, given me back my freedom, and allowed me to do the things I want to do.
“I walk a lot, go to the gym two or three times a week, and go ballroom dancing. I do anything I want to. At 70, I’m very happy. I now come about once a year to make sure the boots are calibrated and everything is aligned.”
